The department offers courses required by computer engineering from basic programing languages (C, C++, Java, etc.) to artificial intelligence, marine IT courses to lead the marine sector, capstone design for practical experience and industry-academy joint courses involving industry professionals to focus on training talented manpower required by the 4th industrial revolution. It supports creative and voluntary student activities such as major-study clubs and provides opportunities to experience IT trend through engineering work contests, field trips, and internship.
Department of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering
Department of Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering aims to train experts in the shipbuilding and marine industries related to design, production and operation of marine structures such as ships, offshore plants, leisure ships and shipbuilding and marine equipment.
The department trains shipbuilding and marine engineers with global competitiveness by operating specialization tracks such as shipbuilding and offshore plant track, leisure ship track, and shipbuilding IT convergence engineering track as well as traditional shipbuilding and marine engineering. It strengthens the field-oriented practical training through industry-academy cooperation with large shipbuilding companies located in the south and southwest regions, small and medium-sized shipyards, equipment companies in Daebul National Industrial Complex, and international sailing onboard practices using the school training ship.
In addition, through various programs to train specialists in marine leisure ship, the course serves as a hub for training human resources for the marine leisure industry, a new growth power industry.
Department of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology
Department of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology aims to train 21st century environment and marine life experts by converging ET (Environment Engineering skill) and BT (Biotechnology skill), the future advanced science fields required by the state and society and cultivate global talent based on creativity and humanity education.
Department of Ocean Civil Engineering
Department of Ocean Civil Engineering aims to train specialists who can develop foundation-building technologies and achieve blue economy demanded by the future. Teaching are based on one of the oldest technologies known to mankind, construction technology, for the sustainable growth and development of the marine industry which will serve as the future blue ocean in the new marine era. Therefore, the course aims to train construction specialists of road, airport, bridge, tunnel, power plant, dam, irrigation drainage and water and sewage, which serve as components of modern civilization, leading to contribution to self-realization and national development. The course also aims to train professional manpower required for constructing offshore structures including port and dock facilities and equipped with design and construction skills for the preservation and development of offshore and coastal areas as well as special knowledge required for construction technicians.
