Facilities and Organizations
Library
The library is a 3-ground-floor and 1-basement building in a total floor area of 4,810㎡. It has a publication preparation room, periodical room, general resource room, iCOMMONS, personal study room, group study room and general reading room and provides knowledge and information necessary for education and research. The library has a collection of 214,000 pieces of publications such as various domestic and foreign specialized books, liberal arts books, E-Books and theses as well as domestic and foreign academic journals and liberal arts magazines. In addition, in order to maximize conveniences and provide various online knowledge contents services, academic information resources by new IT information technology such as Internet-based online DB, electronic journals, E-Book and language contents and video lectures (public servant, computer and national technical qualification licenses) are available for users in the electronic library.
Information Computing Center
Information Computing Center performs academic research support, academic administration support, information system construction and information service management, network management and information security management. It plays a pivotal role in providing effective and convenient information services to university members.
Cadet Dormitory
Cadet Dormitory is operated with full government support for the students of College of Marine Sciences for the room and board. It facilitates students to have the personality necessary for the safety and efficient management of a ship in the special environment of the sea. It is operated in a way that students can cultivate cooperation and leadership through the group living and cultivate desirable qualities and personalities for commercial ship officers by leading regular lives based on autonomy.
Residence Hall
The Residence Hall provides cozy spaces for two people in a room so that the students of College of Maritime Engineering can concentrate comfortably on their studies at a low cost. It also has facilities for relaxation and physical fitness. It has guest rooms for foreign professors as well.
Human Rights Center
Human Rights Center was established to protect the human rights of the university members along with their rights and interests. Consultation onhuman right violations, including sexual harassment and sexual violence are conducted along with investigation and processing of related reports. . In addition, the center provides human rights education and promotions so that all members properly understand the human’s unique dignity and equality and practice them in their lives. Investigation on human right status of the university community is conducted along with research to present the direction for improvement.
Office of GPS Professional Development
Office of GPS Professional Development has Center for Teaching and Learning and Performance Management Center. Center for Teaching and Learning offers programs for professors to strengthen teaching capabilities and programs for students to improve learning strategies and skills. In addition, Performance Management Center measures, evaluates and analyzes our university’s required and optional curricula performance.
Student Counseling Center
Student Counseling Center was established to help students adapt to college life and psychological health. To assist students to lead a successful college life, the center provides information and technology necessary for career search and runs programs for psychological health necessary for boarding adaptation. In addition, the center also supports various psychological health programs to help students overcome psychological difficulties, develop smooth interpersonal relationships and grow healthily based on a deep understanding of themselves.
Support Center for Teacher Education
The Support Center for Teacher Education was established since our university has running a teaching program since 2020 by approval of the Ministry of Education. In order to train excellent teachers in maritime and fisheries high schools, in the center is in charge of promotions for recruiting students for teaching profession, selecting qualified candidates, supporting the operation of the curriculum and evaluating the qualifications for non-exam.
School of Lifelong Education
The School of Lifelong Education was established to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the development of national society by providing opportunities for lifelong education to the local community residents through open education. The School of Lifelong Education opens residents to take classes regardless of their education, gender and age. For those who wish to take college-level courses, the school offers liberal arts programs, specialized programs for specialized knowledge and skills, special programs, credit bank program and other necessary programs.
Marine Simulation Center
Marine Simulation Center consists of Ship Handling Simulator System (SHS), Global Maritime Distress and Safety Simulator System (GMDSS) and Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator System (LCHS) supported by the latest computer system. In the Marine Simulator Center, SHS, GMDSS and LCHS education and trainings can be conducted in real time and it is also equipped with the latest computer graphics and network system that allow trainings in different environments.
Marine Engineering Workshop
Marine Engineering Workshop supports students’ experiments and practices and professors’ research activities and is equipped with engine simulator room, electrical lab, external combustion engine lab, auxiliary fluid lab, mechanical engineering lab, internal combustion engine lab and applied dynamics II lab.
Museum
The Museum shows the history and exhibits of Mokpo National Maritime University that has been changed and developed through five academic-system reforms and eight school-name changes since its opening in 1950. There are about 550 precious exhibits with the help of many alumni and faculty members.
Marine Industry Research Institute
Marine Industry Research Institute aims to research and develop academic studies and applied science technologies on shipping industry, ship, marine construction and marine environment, and to promote university researches, along with contributing to industrial development and local community.
Research Institute of Mechanics & Electronics
The institute aims to contribute to the industrial development and community development by conducting studies and researches on maritime affairs and oceans for academic findings and applied science and technology. The institute conducts activities such as publication of academic journals, and hosting academic seminars and international symposiums.
